We've only just entered the new calendar year, but already Volvo is planning ahead to 2018 model-year vehicles. Luckily, Bill Pearce Volvo has the scoop on the newest Volvo models, including the upcoming V90 Wagon. Find out what we know so far about the 2018 Volvo V90, along with first impressions from industry professionals, and keep in touch to continue to learn more!

What We Know

The 2018 V90 is the replacement for the V70, and debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show last year - and now it's making its way to the United States. Although it made its first local appearance at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, it won't hit the American market full-force until summer. American buyers can expect the V90 Cross Country first, which will be released as a 2017 model.

The 2018 Volvo V90 will feature either a turbocharged 2.0L inline-four that generates 240 hp delivered to the front wheels, or a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0L inline-four that sends 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. Both powertrains are mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The latter propels the V90 to 60 mph in around 6.0 seconds, and is likely to be the main engine option for the U.S. market.

Beyond performance, the V90 will offer plenty of exciting features and sleek design options. The R-Design package makes the wagon look even sportier, while the Inscription package enhances luxury. You'll have access to a 12-inch touchscreen, Nappa leather, and wood interior trim. Space-wise, there's 19.7 cubic feet dedicated for cargo, which expands to a massive 53.9 cubic feet if you fold the back seat flat.

What the Experts Say

Though the 2018 Volvo V90 hasn't yet hit the market in America, experts have plenty of praise for the upcoming model:

  • Motor Trend: "The V90 is a roomy, comfortable, practical, enjoyable wagon. It's Volvo doing what Volvo has long done best, just more stylishly and luxuriously so."
  • The Car Connection: "The 2018 Volvo V90 is shaping up to be the longest and largest wagon for sale in the U.S. market, as well as the most flamboyantly styled."
  • Car and Driver: "Now that we have a full complement of official photos from Volvo, including interior and detail shots, it's clear the V90 is gorgeous, from its concave grille to its artfully beveled rear end."
